AURAK, located in the United Arab Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, opened with an American-style curriculum on 1 June 2009. The university was established by Royal Decree by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

"In these competitive times, student recruitment is essential for the very well-being of any university," explains Professor Sharon Siverts, President of AURAK. Hariri High School II Selects Skoolee Tools School Management Software

News home: http://news.whitemountaintechnologies.com

18 January 2010-Hariri High School II (HHS2) in Beirut, Lebanon has selected Skoolee Tools student information system (SIS) and school management software, as part of its strategy to improve communication between school, parents and students and to boost its technology base.

Hariri High School II is a private, co-educational English language school established in 1986 and supervised by the Directorate of Education of Rafic Hariri Foundation. The school’s 1200 students attend classes from Nursery to Grade 12.

"We have explored several school software products in the market and decided on Skoolee Tools", says Mrs. Basima Baasiri, Principal of Hariri High School II. "Skoolee Tools is well-defined and addresses our school’s requirements. We hope it will facilitate how we manage the school and communicate both internally and externally."

Developed by White Mountain Technologies, Skoolee Tools can be used with National education curricula, as well as American High School Diploma and other international education systems. School administrators and staff can oversee and consolidate school activities and facilitate interaction among diverse school stakeholders, including school administrators, principals, teachers, students, and parents.

Skoolee Tools further makes basic academic tasks more efficient: scheduling of classes/courses, registration, monitoring student grades and performance, providing online assignments and exams, and more.

"We have defined Skoolee to undertake schools' needs in the region," explains Michael Zakharia, Director of Production at White Mountain Technologies. "We listen to their needs and pain points and address them accordingly. It does not serve them at all to impose the needs of others on to them, but they could gain from best practices implemented by Skoolee Tools."

Beirut Arab University Increases Space Optimization by 30%

News home: http://news.whitemountaintechnologies.com/

30 October 2009 – Beirut Arab University (BAU) has successfully allocated 90% of its classroom space for the Fall 2009 semester, after implementing UniversiTools scheduling solutions.

In the past, BAU faced serious scheduling conflicts at the beginning of each semester, which led to under-utilization of campus facilities. At any one time, only up to 60% of classroom and teaching laboratories were used.

In August, BAU integrated UniversiTools Classroom Scheduler and Alternative Scheduler (Common Time Locator) developed by White Mountain Technologies. The university, established in Beirut since 1960, has 15,000 students enrolled in over 300 academic programs across campuses in Lebanon and is affiliated with Alexandria University in Egypt.

According to Dr. Walid Shatila, BAU I.T. Director and Professor, “Assigning courses to classrooms used to be a two-week process that dragged into the first week of a semester. For the fall semester, we scheduled courses in a matter of hours.”

“We effectively freed 30% of our classrooms and laboratories, which had been frozen due to space allocation conflict,” explains Dr. Shatila. “We’re able to offer more courses, and the return on investment is here and now.”

With UniversiTools, BAU centralized scheduling for the first time, with the option that Faculties can allocate classrooms for their courses.

If changes to classroom schedules must be made after allocation, BAU simply selects a classroom and clicks to view all available classrooms with no conflict for professors, students or location. Previously, once a classroom had been scheduled, the decision to change course location required a hectic return to the design board.

For Ghassan Abboud, Managing Director of White Mountain Technologies, space is a campus resource that should be productively used to advance the strategic goals of a university.

Abboud explains, “The practical results that universities get with UniversiTools can be used to maximize schedule courses during non-peak times and to realize energy savings. Administrators can monitor the quality of their facilities, determine furnishing needs, and better coordinate between units responsible for maintaining and upgrading a campus.”

In addition to classroom and alternative scheduling, UniversiTools scheduling solution includes Course Scheduler and Exam Scheduler modules. The scheduling suite works alongside large scale campus solutions, such as Banner and CampusVue, as well as with UniversiTools process-based student information system (SIS).

UniversiTools software caters to multilingual universities. Members of the UniversiTools user community in the Middle East include such universities as American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon, American University in Dubai (AUD) and American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
